Assistant Director Energy Planning and Innovation Division (Principal Executive/Manager F), Oregon Dept of Energy Office

The Energy Planning and Innovation Division prioritizes diversifying Oregon’s energy mix, successfully integrating renewable energy resources into our energy systems, developing innovative approaches to saving energy, better managing our use of energy, and supporting statewide efforts to meet Oregon’s future energy and climate goals. Through statewide programs and projects, the division provides policy expertise and leadership on topics such as renewable and conventional energy resources, alternative fuel vehicles, demand response, energy storage, energy efficiency, and energy system resiliency. The team supports promising initiatives to advance energy innovation – from providing grants to energy technology demonstration projects, to developing energy policy recommendations, to providing technical expertise on emerging energy issues. In 1999, we were the first state in the nation to adopt carbon dioxide emission standards. Today, the division plays a key role in informing greenhouse gas policy discussions and developing options to meet both the state’s energy needs and climate goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be part of the director’s executive management team, which sets agency policies, goals, objectives, plans and implements strategies to meet them. Duties will include:

Working with the director to develop and implement a vision for carrying out the agency’s mission.
Fostering collaboration and effective communications among agency’s staff.
Providing support to other assistant directors in achieving their goals and objectives.
Providing leadership specifically to the Energy Planning & Innovation Division.
Directing and managing the division including developing and implementing long and short range plans, goals and objectives, supervising and developing two section managers, establishing budget priorities, controlling the division’s budget, providing guidance to staff and representing the state and agency in a variety of forums.
Ensuring that the division provides outstanding customer service, effectively implements energy programs, and develops policies on energy resources, renewable energy technologies, energy conservation and energy efficiency consistent with the agency’s mission.
