High Performance Schools Coordinator

The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) seeks a High Performance Schools Coordinator to join the School Facilities and Organization team. Position Overview
This position provides independent coordination and leadership to develop and implement statewide high-performance school building programs (HPSBP). This position provides independent coordination and support to key stakeholders by assisting with development and deployment of HPSBP facility policies, as well as principal strategic planning. This position reports to the Director of School Facilities and Organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer competitive grant programs in energy, health and safety, or other facility-related areas. Track, analyze and report results. Recommend and incorporate HPSBP requirements into the School Construction Assistance Program. Conduct communication and create training, technical support programs and materials for the HPSBP. Develop criteria for competitive analysis of grant funding requests.
  • Coordinate statewide HPSBP and grant implementation by routinely reporting to OSPI staff, stakeholder groups, the Legislature, and other government agencies. Provide final recommendation to OSPI leadership on related grants and final policy decisions regarding HPSBP.
  • Provide technical assistance to grantees. Review payment documents, collect and report required grant documents. Track and report grant activities. Publish the required annual report to the legislature.
  • Lead statewide committees. Respond to public and legislative inquiries regarding the state of the HPSBP and related grant programs. Participate on national forums representing the Director of School Facilities and Organization, as well as OSPI.
  • Extensively analyze and independently manage the K-3 Class Size Reduction program. Conduct outreach and provide support to grant recipients. Approve and track grant financial activities. Create and update required grant status reports.
  • Participate in school district organization training. Fulfill special assignments, which includes (but is not limited to) assigned legislative actions, OSPI agency requests and staff transition responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in education, public or business administration or related field, and six (6) years of professional experience in the specialty required for the position, OR
  • One (1) year of graduate training in education, public or business administration or related field, and five (5) years of professional experience in the specialty required for the position, OR
  • A Master’s degree involving major study in education, public or business administration or related field, and four (4) years of professional experience in the specialty required for the position.

Desired Qualifications:

  • LEED accredited professional, Certified Energy Manager or other sustainable-building related certification/education.
  • Experience in grant administration, engineering/architecture, public administration or school district administration with public works experience.

Compensation
The annual compensation for the position is $57,708-$75,684 per year and depends upon experience, educational background and qualifications. Washington State offers a generous benefit package including health, dental and life insurance, retirement and an optional deferred compensation program.
