NEEC Recognizes Washington State Consortium for Energy
Management
Leavenworth, WA – The Northwest Energy Efficiency
Council (NEEC) announced the award of a certificate of
commendation to the Washington State Plant Operations Support
Consortium for its contributions towards the adoption of
energy management practices among facilities professionals
in Washington State. The Consortium is comprised of state
agencies, educational facilities, municipalities and port
districts, and acts as a resource center for facilities
professionals, providing a clearinghouse for best practices
and organizational standards, construction project management,
professional development and brokering of surplus/salvage
materials. Bob MacKenzie, Consortium director, will accept
the award on behalf of the Consortium.
The NEEC certificate
of commendation recognizes individuals and programs contributing
to the Council’s mission
to enhance market opportunities for energy efficient products,
services and practices in the Pacific Northwest. “Among
the Consortium’s many notable contributions was its
role in working with Washington State General Administration
to integrate an energy management training component into
its employee professional development program for the department’s
building engineering and maintenance staff statewide,” said
Stan Price, executive director of NEEC. This component
emphasizes energy efficient operational practices and utilizes
the training curriculum of the nationally-recognized Building
Operator Certification – BOC® credential program. “Since
the program’s inception in 1996, over 40 General
Administration facilities professionals have successfully
passed rigorous training on energy efficient operational
practices,” according to Price. BOC graduates elevate
the level of professionalism and technical detail for energy
efficient operational practices in public facilities around
the country.
The extraordinary certificate of commendation
will be presented by NEEC’s executive director, Stan
Price, on May 21 at the opening session of the Energy & Facilities
Connections conference in Leavenworth, WA. The conference
is sponsored by Washington State General Administration
and Washington State University Energy Program.
